Having an upset stomach, especially when it’s accompanied by diarrhea, can be a particularly unpleasant experience. Understanding what foods to eat, and those you should avoid, can help you avoid additional discomfort. If you have diarrhea you should try to eat foods that are plain, simple foods for the first 24 hours. Foods like oatmeal, bananas, boiled potatoes, rice, toast, crackers, pretzels, and applesauce are great for people who have an upset stomach. Some people find it helpful to consume foods that contain probiotics like yogurt, kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi.
